Dashboard help tips

At AC, our goal is to improve mental health and well-being in schools. To that end, we regularly update our offerings to ensure that they are as helpful as possible to our partner schools. We make these updates based on current scientific research, findings from our work, and in response to feedback from our partner schools.

Our most recent round of updates, available to schools surveying in the 2023-2024 school year, focus on adding context to our dashboards to help users better understand their results and updating survey measures based on the latest research. Read on to learn more about the high-level changes and improvements we’ve made in our latest release.

What's New?

Fall 2023 Results Dashboard Updates

In-Context Help and Analyses Explanations
In response to feedback from partner schools, we have made three primary changes to help users better understand and interact with their survey findings:

  • Ⓘ icons throughout the dashboards now contain helpful in-context and explanations to address frequently asked questions
  • We continue to provide a User Guide that includes reminders about how to interpret the results, and we have now embedded this document within the dashboards to facilitate access to this helpful information
  • A navigation tab within the dashboards will remind users about how to interact with the dashboards to find the information they most need
Construct search

New Capability: Search

Our dashboards contain a lot of important information. To help users more easily find the information they are looking for, we have added a Search capability. Users can now type in a word or phrase and they will see a list of the matching topics. We hope to further build out these capabilities in future releases.

New Capability: Time Point Filter

We have created an additional time-point filter to allow users to break the data down by two demographic breakdowns at a particular time-point. This will provide additional flexibility when manipulating the dashboards.

New Capability: Filtering Notifications

On each dashboard that contains quantitative data and filters, we have added a reminder about our commitment to protect respondent confidentiality, stating that we do not show data for demographics that have 10 or fewer respondents.

Updated Recommendations

After reviewing our conversations with schools in the 2022-2023 academic year, as well as the free response data about suggestions for improvement, we have updated the recommendations we give to schools to be even more actionable and targeted.

Fall 2023 Survey and Analyses Updates

Annually, we review our surveys to be sure that the questions we ask 1) continue to produce data that can inform actionable recommendations for schools, and 2) are reflective and affirming of the identity and experience of those who are answering the questions. Across all of our surveys, we’ve added optional demographic questions to ensure that our demographic items are as clear and inclusive as possible. We’ve also made several changes to our survey measures and data analyses, some of which are outlined below:

High Achieving Schools Survey (HASS) and Student Resilience Survey (SRS)
  • Our student surveys for grades 6-12 have been updated to reduce survey fatigue and improve the validity and reliability of survey items. Our team analyzed the survey items to remove any items that were extraneous.

Children’s Resilience Survey (CRS)
  • The Children’s Resilience Survey for grades 2-5 gives administrators a sense of how their younger students are feeling. In response to the free response data collected from these students in the 2022-2023 academic year, we’ve added a new measure around classroom management.

Faculty Resilience Survey (FRS)
  • The Faculty Resilience Survey has been designed to help administrators understand policies and practices at school that may help improve well-being among faculty and staff. New items about access to mental health support will help schools ensure that they are supporting faculty and staff in the ways they need.

Parent Resilience Survey (FRS)
  • The Parent Resilience Survey has been updated to gather actionable information from families about their ability to forge strong connections with others in the community.
